So this is actually day 3 of the rendering. As I sit in my warm studio, other more hardy birders are out in the cold reporting sightings at Cleveland Hopkins Airport!

It will be 18 x 18"
Played with some of the directional lines. I gave the background a cool cast. Then it just needed the berries!
Tonal details are added and some highlights to give depth. At this point most of the work is done but I can not resist adding color!
Then I create a layout and do a simple drawing on a colored ground.
Here are the reference photos I have chosen to work with. I have collected many over the seasons. It is now December and it only seems fitting to add the Cardinals to my galleries! I feel blessed to have Mr. and Mrs visit my feeders year round!
